Asia Pacific Screen Awards
12/07/2012
The colour, richness and diversity of the international film industry is coming to Brisbane for the 2012 Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs). This year’s awards ceremony will be held at the QPAC Playhouse, and will see filmmakers from more than 30 countries attend what is acknowledged as the region’s highest accolade in film.
Film in the hands of a great filmmaker has the power to change lives; the power to bridge cultural divides; the courage to explore and tell our stories; to inform and entertain; to deliver better understanding into hearts and minds.
It is the aim of most filmmakers to win a major award. It is an enormous boost to the filmmaker professionally and to the film’s critical and commercial life.
Over five years, 180 films have been nominated in the APSAs, films which clearly demonstrate a rich slate of diversity – each telling its own story, in its own way, from its country of origin. That is what the Asia Pacific Screen Awards respect and acclaim.
Films are judged on cinematic excellence and the way in which they attest to their cultural origins.
Event date: 23 November 2012
