Lord Mayor’s Business Awards: nominations open

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk together with Brisbane Marketing has launched the seventh annual Lord Mayor’s Business Awards (LMBA), Brisbane’s premier business awards program, and all Brisbane businesses are invited to nominate.

 Now in its seventh successive year the LMBA celebrates the achievements and exceptional contributions of businesses and individuals to Brisbane, Australia’s new world city. 

 Award nominations will close on Friday 27 July at 5.00pm. The award category winners, as well as the prestigious Optus Platinum winner, will be unveiled at a Gala Dinner held on Wednesday 31 October at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. 

 Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said celebrating Brisbane’s business achievements was essential in recognizing and promoting the city’s vast pool of exceptional businesses and their world class products and services.

“The Lord Mayor’s Business Awards showcase our leading business talent and together with the Brisbane Economic Development Plan they aim to maximise every opportunity possible for the growth and prosperity of our economy” Cr Quirk said.

“I encourage all organisations to nominate for the awards and look forward to seeing some fresh faces at this year’s event.”

Brisbane Marketing, the city’s economic development agency is managing and hosting the LMBA for the seventh successive year.

Brisbane Marketing CEO, John Aitken said the Brisbane business community had a reputation for being collaborative, innovative and creative and the Awards highlighted how these qualities lead to success.

“The Lord Mayor’s Business Awards program is a key event for business owners and it continues to reveal inspiring stories of remarkable achievement.”

  • Brisbane City Council Award for Corporate Citizenship
  • Award for Employer of Choice 
  • Award for Young Business Person of the Year 
  • Optus Platinum Award

The 2012 winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner on Wednesday 31 October, where they will join LMBA alumni winners such as Liquid Animation, Leighton Properties, Urban Arts Projects, Hoodlum, TechnologyOne, Hassell, and Medihoney.
