It’s Show Time - Ekka 2012!
The RNA Showgrounds are a hive of activity as thousands make their annual pilgrimage to Queensland’s largest yearly event. Animals, show bags, agricultural, food, art and craft competitions and great value family fun are all part of the Ekka experience.
There’s loads of educational displays, wonderful fresh food and wine and an exciting evening program jam-packed with amazing entertainment, live bands and spectacular RACQ Fireworks spectacular.
More than 400,000 people from the city and country will come together from August 9 to 18 to celebrate and experience the best of Queensland.
Just 1.6 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, the Ekka features more than 10,000 animals, 23,000 competition entries, a smorgasbord of award-winning food and wine and hours of free family entertainment.
Ekka 2011 marked the first show held since construction began on the historic $2.9 billion 15-year RNA Showgrounds Regeneration Project. The success of last year’s show demonstrated how the state’s largest annual event can operate seamlessly throughout the regeneration project, and this year will be no different.
Visitors to Ekka 2012 will be some of the first to walk through the newly transformed Royal International Convention Centre (previously known as the Industrial Pavilion), with the ground floor back in use for the show.
The Ekka’s largest competition, The Royal Queensland Dog Show, will be housed in this fantastic exhibition space together with the Agricultural Hall and Horticulture Exhibits.
It will also be home to a new attraction for green thumbs—The Garden Platform—which will feature daily gardening tips, activities and cooking demonstrations.
For Ekka 2012, four ticket bundles have been introduced providing visitors with great value and plenty to experience while the night time entertainment program is bigger and better than ever.
The fireworks display will be twice as long, twice as spectacular and will be introduced by some great new acts.
