Cycle the CLEM7 during Bike Week 2010

Bicycle Queensland has confirmed that the CLEM7 tunnel will be a major feature of
several Bike Week 2010 events this March.

For the first time, the routes for signature Bike Week events, the Great Brisbane Bike
Ride and BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge, will incorporate the brand new CLEM7
tunnel, allowing cyclists the opportunity to experience the city’s newest bypass.

“We are thrilled to offer cyclists the chance to ride through the CLEM7 during Bike Week
2010 and anticipate a huge rush on event entries,” said Ben Wilson, Manager of Bicycle
Queensland.

The BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge attracts cyclists from all over Australia for an
80km ride starting and finishing at Southbank’s Cultural Forecourt and featuring the
ultimate fitness test, the city’s iconic Mt Coot-tha.

“With the addition of the CLEM7, the BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge truly is one of
Australia’s most unique road rides, ranging from beneath the Brisbane River to the
summit of Mt Coot-tha,” said Mr Wilson.

Raising money for the Endeavour Foundation, naming rights partner BDO has recently
issued a challenge to Brisbane firms to try and beat the participation rate of their 70-
strong team in 2009.

For those eager to pedal through the tunnel, but not so keen on tackling Mt Coot-tha, the Great Brisbane Bike Ride offers a more relaxed, yet still challenging, opportunity.

Cyclists can spend a leisurely Sunday morning exploring the best of Brisbane’s bike
paths with thousands of other riders along routes incorporating the CLEM7 and designed
to be fun for all ages and all levels of experience.

Bike Week 2010 runs from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 March, with the BDO Brisbane
Coot-tha Challenge and Great Brisbane Bike Ride part of a big day of cycling celebration
at Southbank on 21 March.

Pedaling the message, cycling is smart travel, Bike Week 2010 features a range of rides
and (mostly) free activities to demonstrate the numerous fitness, financial and fun
benefits that cycling can provide.

Online entries are now open for the BDO Brisbane Coot-tha Challenge and the Great
Brisbane Bike Ride, with full program details and registration available at www.bq.org.au.

Bicycle Queensland is a non-profit community and advocacy group working to make
cycling safer. In addition to Bike Week, the group also presents the Cycle Queensland
regional ride and the Wilson HTM Brisbane to the Gold Coast Cycle Challenge.
