Brisbane triumphs at Tourism Awards

Brisbane has confirmed its status as a premier tourism destination with seven award wins at Friday night’s 2009 Queensland Tourism Awards.

Greater Brisbane tourism operators representing the full spectrum of the industry secured the prestigious award wins against a competitive field of more than 160 entries.

Brisbane Marketing Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Aitken said he was immensely proud of the local tourism industry.

“Brisbane Marketing works closely with local tourism operators to position Brisbane as Australia’s new world city and I’m delighted to see both the winners and finalists receive this well-deserved recognition,” said Mr Aitken.

“These award wins also deliver a powerful message about the diversity of Brisbane’s tourism expertise.

“It’s clear that with operators as diverse as the Emporium Hotel, Riverlife Mirrabooka and our very own Visitor Information and Booking Centre winning awards, Brisbane is at the top of its game and can deliver a first-class holiday experience.”
