At the local level

Brisbane City Council’s Green Heart CitySmart initiative is a program of environmental initiatives designed to address the burning issue of climate change and consolidate Brisbane’s status as a clean, green city. Under the Green Heart CitySmart program, Council is working with businesses and residents to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy and water efficiencies. The end result will see Brisbane become Australia’s most sustainable city and a carbon neutral destination by 2026.

Novotel Brisbane

In 2008, Novotel Brisbane committed to developing an environmental action plan in accordance with the requirements of the Green Globe Company Standard. The city of Brisbane welcomes its pledge of commitment to local communities and its aim to contribute to local economic development.

Novotel backed up their words by appointing a dedicated Green Team, lead by a Green Globe Coordinator and have since made the commitment to: implement sound waste management schemes; reduce lighting usages where necessary; recycle waste products; reduce Greenhouse Gases; ensure staff awareness on environmental issues in the workplace; and provide environmental and social awareness for customers and guests.

In addition Novotel gives special consideration to efficient and environmentally sustainable products and services, sourced locally.
